WHAT IS THIS THINGS CALLED CHRISTIANITY?
Coming soon: In partnership with Routledge Publishing and the Lumen Center, a new introduction to the Christian tradition. What is this thing called Christianity? is an introductory textbook that brings to life the ideas and story of Christianity. It’s a thorough overview and critical assessment of core beliefs, their origin, and how adherents of the world's largest religion practice their faith. In this unique textbook, the questions are answered from the perspectives of theologians, historians, biblical scholars, and philosophers. The edited volume will be divided into 4 sections:
1. What are the central ideas of Christianity? (Ideas)
2. Where do these ideas come from? (History)
3. Are these ideas coherent? (Critical Analysis/Philosophy)
4. How do these ideas inform Christian practice? (Ritual/Liturgy)
Each chapter will be accompanied by a 30-minute lecture. Subscribe to the Lumen Center for updates on the book and upcoming video series.
